Review by "Three Weeks" of neil's concert at St. Mark's artspace 9th. August 2008 - the Edinburgh Fringe.

"This is an incredible showcase of classical and world music, from Baroque counterpoint to Afro-Cuban dance. Scottish guitarist Neil Wilson showed exceptional flair and passion in his confident arrangements of such works as Bach's 'Violin suite in G minor', Astor Piazzola's 'La muerte del angel', and the wonderful reworking of Joaquin Rodrigo's 'Ivocation et danza', obviously enjoying the fruits of his prodigious talent almost as much as the audience seated straight-backed in the pews. The repertoire gave the young musician ample opportunity to let his technical virtuosity and emotional intensity stand out boldly, feeling and plumbing the musical directions, constantly playing with strength and profundity. Dynamic, intense and intricate, his performance was a treat."

Review by "Three Weeks" - The Edinburgh Fringe.

"Descriptions such as 'fantastic' and 'brilliant' are greatly over-used, particularly when it comes to reviews. But in the case of Neil Wilson, they're spot on. First impressions don't exactly scream classical musician, and with his impressive afro and Glaswegian accent, you are expecting more 'Brit Pop' than 'Bach'. As soon as he begins, however, his complete mastery of the guitar is beyond question, matched only by his obvious love for the music he plays - a programme of his personal favourites. From the fragility of the Renaissance to the bold passion of contemporary Spanish and Argentinean composers, he creates a musical picture, full of light and depth with intricate detail. The experience leaves you feeling awestruck and deeply satisfied in equal measures - a rare find."
